Practical Solutions to Brewing’s Practical Problems
Brewing Consulting Services was formed by David Kapral in 2003, after he retired from his 35 year brewing career at Anheuser-Busch.  During his career David was instrumental in increasing yield, increasing brewery capacity, and in solving a number of practical brewing efficiency problems, including stratification in fermenters, CIP Issues and variable lautering problems. Commendations from David’s colleagues follow.

David’s practical experience was vital during the $65MM modernization of the Baldwinsville, NY facility. He was selected to lead a 30 person brewing team as the Brewing Project Manager. The team directly interfaced with the Engineering team responsible for construction, wrote the Batch Recipes, and was directly involved in Process design.

Practical Solutions to Brewing’s Practical Problems
The modernization converted the Brewhouse and Fermenting operations from PLC 3 control to a Siemens S_88 Batch operation. The project met all goals for ROI, quality, capacity increase, safety and timing. David has put all of this practical experience into play in his company, Brewing Consulting Services, where his goal is to provide practical solutions to a wide variety of brewery problems and challenging opportunities in the Craft Brewing Industry.  David has worked to form alliances with Strategic partners in the industry to meet a breweries other needs that are outside of the scope of services provided by his company.  See “Related Links” David has also worked to give back to the industry through lecturing.  He is a regular speaker at the MBAA Madison course.  He has lectured at the UC Davis extension, and he has spoken at four MBAA national conventions on practical topics such as Project Management, Stratified Fermentations and Practical Brewhouse Operations.  He was awarded an MBAA Editor’s Choice in 2008 for a TQ Publication.  In 2009 he will be presented with the Inge Russell award for the best technical paper of 2008. David has also been selected to review Technical articles and books on the Brewing Process.  His heart is in the Process however, and working on Brewing issues directly in the plant is where he is at his best.
